Garrett Clark was born and raised in the Salt Lake Valley. He graduated from Taylorsville High School and later attended the University of Utah where he received his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Political Science. Garrett currently works for Ivory Homes.
After returning from his two year mission in Brazil, Garrett was deployed to Iraq with Charlie Company, 142 MI battalion. While serving in Iraq he worked with a multinational team of intelligence operators under the Iraq Survey Group. In Iraq, Garrett’s unit was able to achieve a great deal of success in a very difficult environment. Working with both high level Iraqi and American leaders, Charlie Company distinguished itself as a premier unit and was ultimately awarded the Presidential Citation for Meritorious Service.
At the conclusion of his 15-month deployment, he returned home and enrolled at the University of Utah. While attending the U he was extensively involved in Student Government where he had the opportunity to collaborate with various organizations to promote the services that are offered throughout campus. Garrett’s involvement on and off campus has allowed him to become an advocate for higher education and a strong believer in civic responsibility. As a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Garrett was successful in establishing a new scholarship that would recognize the commitment and leadership of those who are in his fraternity chapter. His involvement in the community has granted him the opportunity to envision the possibilities of the future.
He has served as a big brother mentor for the Big Brother / Big Sister organization and has enjoyed building relationships with young men of single parent households. He also has assisted with donations and programs at Camp Hobe. Camp Hobe is a summer camp designed to help children who have been diagnosed with cancer enjoy their childhood by creating a positive environment and experience for every child.
In his senior year at the U he met his fiancé Shadie Ghaibi. She is in her first year of Pharmacy School at the University of Utah and they were wed on June 6th, 2008. In his free time, Garrett enjoys Utah’s natural scenery as he often is fishing and hiking. When he is not in the mountains enjoying the beautiful scenery he is spending time with Shadie at the Ballet or at the Utah Symphony. You can also find him often supporting the Utah Ute’s in his full on red gear at many of the Utah events. He is big fan of the Utah Football team and often enjoys watching the Running Utes up at the Huntsman Center
Most importantly, he enjoys being surrounded by his family and friends especially his two nieces Mckenzie and Savanna.
