    <description>City Council member Tulsi Gabbard announced on Monday that she picked up an endorsement from the group VoteVets.org in her campaign for Congress.

The group is also endorsing Tammy Duckworth, who is from Hawaii but running for Congress in Illinois. Other candidates it supports include Patrick Murphy, who is running for Pennsylvania attorney general and Brendan Mullen, a congressional candidate in Indiana.

Gabbard served two tours of duty in the Middle East as a member of the Hawaii Army National Guard. 

"To earn the endorsement and support of my fellow veterans means more to me than any other endorsement because they know me," Gabbard said in a statement issued by her campaign. "These brave men and women are true heroes, who have served courageously and continue to serve in our military and in our community."</description>
