As Senate Hearing Focuses on Women in the Military, Female Marine Veteran Says It Is About Security

Washington, DC – As the Senate Armed Services Committee heard from top military leaders on the issue of women in the military, and whether or not to open certain jobs to them, one female Marine veteran is speaking out strongly in favor of the idea.

“Women deserve the opportunity to meet the standards required to serve in combat roles,” said VoteVets supporter Kristen Kavanaugh, a former Captain in the US Marine Corps and Iraq War Veteran.  “This isn’t about fairness – it is about aligning the best, most qualified service members to every role which ultimately makes our military stronger and America safer.”
