Veterans Cheer Vote to Send Nomination of Cordray to Senate Floor

 ·  VoteVets.org, Press Release

Washington, DC - The largest progressive group of veterans in America, VoteVets.org, released the following statement following the 12-10 committee vote to send to the Senate floor the nomination of Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray to head the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

In a statement, the group said:

"The Senate must immediately confirm General Cordray to serve in this post.  Every day the agency doesn't have a director is another day when troops and veterans are targeted by predatory lending, unfair loan practices, and outrageous mortgage charges.  This is a clear case of financial institutions that want to operate without abandon, and prey on troops, veterans, and their families, versus those who believe there should be an advocate for those who served in uniform.  Senators, with their vote, will tell us which side they are on.  There is nothing controversial about Richard Cordray, and he deserves to be confirmed so he can get to work."

Founded in 2006,  and backed by over 100,000 members, the mission of VoteVets.org is to use public issue campaigns and direct outreach to lawmakers to ensure that troops abroad have what they need to complete their missions, and receive the care they deserve when they get home.  VoteVets.org also recognizes veterans as a vital part of the fabric of our country and will work to protect veterans' interests in their day-to-day lives.   VoteVets.org is committed to the destruction of terror networks around the world - with force when necessary - to protect America.  While non-partisan, the group is the largest progressive organization of veterans in America.
