VoteVets Endorses Gallego for Congress

 ·  VoteVets.org, Press Release

PHOENIX, AZ – The national veterans group, VoteVets.org PAC, today is endorsing Ruben Gallego for Congress, to replace the retiring Ed Pastor.  Gallego had served as the Arizona State Captain for VoteVets.org, and as a State Representative, VoteVets.org PAC endorsed him and included him among the group’s “Emerging Leaders” – those state and local representatives with bright futures ahead of them in public service.

“When you talk about service to this country, there are very few who encapsulate that more than Ruben,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran, and Chairman of VoteVets.org.  “As Minority Leader in the House, Ruben has been a true leader for the state and his constituents.  His dedication to fighting for Arizona is perhaps rivaled only by his service to the United States in uniform.  Arizona could do no better than to send Ruben to Washington, where he will use his energy, passion, commitment, and skills as a legislator to represent them extremely well.”

According to his official biography, Ruben Gallego served in Iraq with the well-known and highly decorated combat unit Lima 3/25. The company was involved in some of the hardest combat of the Iraq War. He still remains close to his fellow Marines. Ruben is involved in many veterans’ causes, including the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. Much of Ruben’s work at the legislature has been focused on veterans’ issues, and he currently sits on the Military Affairs and Public Safety Committee.

Founded in 2006, the mission of VoteVets.org Political Action Committee is to elect Veterans to public office, with a focus on Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, and hold public officials accountable for their words and actions that impact America's 21st century troops and veterans. Though VoteVets.org PAC is non-partisan, candidates it backs must support VoteVets.org's core mission and beliefs.
