The ad features David Murray, a Navy Veteran from Pittsboro.  In the ad, he says, "In the military, we're a family.  We have each others' backs. We take care of each other.  I truly do respect Congressman Young's service, but since he has gone to Washington, Congressman Young served himself and special interests. And when Congressman Young voted to shut down the government He took his taxpayer-funded paycheck. But at the same time he risked basic needs and benefits for our veterans.  It just burns me to the core."

With a government shutdown looming, Congressman Young did vote five times to block a clean vote on government funding, which threatened critical veterans’ services.  At the same time, he continued to collect his Congressional paycheck.
