total buy now at $125,000

HONOLULU, HI - VoteVets.org Action Fund, the largest progressive group of veterans in America, representing over 105,000 members, is extending a television ad buy in Hawaii, touting the unique biography of Tulsi Gabbard, who is running for Congress, and asking Hawaiians to take a look at her amazing story.  The ad, which already aired for 10 days on broadcast television, with an initial $75,000 buy has been extended another two weeks, starting tonight, for an additional $50,000.  It is the first independent expenditure ad on the air in the race.

You can view the independent expenditure ad here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82hbkxix9ws

The ad features four Hawaii veterans:  Iraq War veterans Greg White and Ron Haskell, US Army veteran Denise Nakanishi, and Martin Trevino, who served with Gabbard in the Army, in Iraq.

In the ad, the veterans take turns speaking.  With pictures of Hawaii, Iraq, and Gabbard behind them, they say: "You could call her a hero, for enlisting in the Hawaii Guard after 9/11, but we call her Tulsi...  You could call her a patriot, for giving up her seat in the legislature, to serve two tours in Iraq and Kuwait, but we call her Tulsi... You could call her a leader for returning home and working with Senator Akaka on veterans' issues, but we call her Tulsi...  I was proud to serve with Tulsi Gabbard, and call her my friend... Hawaii now has a chance to call her Congresswoman."

Founded in 2006,  and backed by over 100,000 members, the mission of VoteVets.org is to use public issue campaigns and direct outreach to lawmakers to ensure that troops abroad have what they need to complete their missions, and receive the care they deserve when they get home.  VoteVets.org also recognizes veterans as a vital part of the fabric of our country and will work to protect veterans' interests in their day-to-day lives.   VoteVets.org is committed to the destruction of terror networks around the world - with force when necessary - to protect America.  While non-partisan, the group is the largest progressive organization of veterans in America.
