Iraq and Afghanistan veteran from the Commonwealth tells voters that "maybe voting for George Allen is the real waste" in ad that exposes Allen's anti-veteran record and view that all government spending is a ‘waste'

Richmond, VA - The national veterans group, VoteVets.org, is today launching a new television ad that exposes Senator George Allen's anti veteran record, featuring a veteran from the Commonwealth, telling the story himself.   The ad is running on broadcast and cable in the state, for one week, at a cost of $200,000.

The ad features Iraq and Afghanistan War Veteran from Virginia, David Nasse.  In the ad, he says, "There are over 800,000 veterans, like me, living in Virginia.  Time and again, George Allen has turned his back on us.  He voted to let health care premiums triple for three million military retirees, and voted against billions for veterans care.  And George Allen said, ‘Whatever the government program is, no matter how essential it is, it is a waste.'  If George Allen thinks veterans programs are a waste, maybe voting for him is the real waste."
The ad can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cePNEu2QWqQ.  The full script, and backup, is below.

General (Ret.) Wesley Clark, Chairman of VoteVets.org's Board of Advisors said, "It's unconscionable that in a state filled with active and retired members of our Armed Forces, George Allen would vote to allow TRICARE fees to triple for retirees, and against adding funds for veterans care to the budget, but that's just what he did.  It would be incredibly unfortunate for all of our members of the military and veterans, if George Allen took the place of Jim Webb in the Senate."

Founded in 2006,  and backed by over 220,000 members, the mission of VoteVets.org is to use public issue campaigns and direct outreach to lawmakers to ensure that troops abroad have what they need to complete their missions, and receive the care they deserve when they get home.  VoteVets.org also recognizes veterans as a vital part of the fabric of our country and will work to protect veterans' interests in their day-to-day lives.   VoteVets.org is committed to the destruction of terror networks around the world - with force when necessary - to protect America.  While non-partisan, the group is the largest progressive organization of veterans in America
