"Many of America’s troops and veterans certainly would support a more swift and complete withdrawal of our troops from the Afghan war."

Washington DC - The largest progressive group of veterans in America, with over 360,000 supporters, VoteVets.org, is reacting positively to news that the Obama administration may be considering speeding up the removal of troops from Afghanistan, and leaving none in-nation.  The news was reported this evening in the New York Times.

“If the killings of Osama bin Laden and other top al Qaeda leaders taught us one thing, it is that we don’t need troops fighting in Afghanistan to combat the terror threat to the United States,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chairman of VoteVets.org.  “We can achieve our security goals with special forces and surgical strikes.  Further, we cannot want a democratic, stable Afghanistan more than the government and the people there.  Ultimately, whether their nation survives is up to them, and keeping our troops there doesn’t change that equation.  The only thing that changes, day by day, is the number of American men and women we’ve lost.  For that reason, many of America’s troops and veterans certainly would support a more swift and complete withdrawal of our troops from the Afghan war.”

Founded in 2006,  and backed by over 360,000 supporters, the mission of VoteVets.org is to use public issue campaigns and direct outreach to lawmakers to ensure that troops abroad have what they need to complete their missions, and receive the care they deserve when they get home.  VoteVets.org also recognizes veterans as a vital part of the fabric of our country and will work to protect veterans' interests in their day-to-day lives.   VoteVets.org is committed to the destruction of terror networks around the world - with force when necessary - to protect America.  While non-partisan, the group is the largest progressive organization of veterans in America.
