VoteVets PAC endorses Cory Simpson

CHARLESTON, WV – Representing over 400,000 veterans, military families, and their civilian supporters, the largest progressive group of veterans in America, VoteVets PAC, is endorsing Cory Simpson’s campaign for West Virginia’s 2nd District seat in Congress. 

“When you talk about someone uniquely qualified to go to Congress and help formulate policies that will keep America safe, there are not many who match up with Cory Simpson,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chairman of VoteVets PAC.  “Cory hasn’t forgotten where he came from, either.  His commitment to West Virginia, and to the men and women of the United States Military and veterans with whom he served can’t be challenged.  He’ll be an incredibly effective leader in Congress, and we’re proud to endorse him.” 

According to his official biography, after over a dozen years on Active Duty in the United States Army, Cory Simpson returned home to West Virginia.  Simpson’s time in the Army started shortly after theSeptember 11th terrorist attacks, when Cory decided to join the military. After graduating WVU College of Law, Cory began his career with the United States Army as a Judge Advocate (JAG).   Cory is airborne qualified and has earned numerous military awards and decorations through his service, including the Bronze Star and Defense Meritorious Service Medal. He is an accomplished prosecutor and legal advisor with a broad range of experience in federal responses to domestic crisis; international law, with an emphasis on counter-terrorism; and federal criminal law. 

During his time in the Army, Cory spent almost five years overseas in Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, including 19 months working with our nation’s elite Airborne and Special Forces.    

In his final assignment on active duty, Cory served at the Pentagon as an advisor to the National Commission on the Future of the Army, an independent, nonpartisan committee appointed by the President and Congress. 


Founded in 2006, the mission of Political Action Committee is to elect Veterans to public office, with a focus on Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, and hold public officials accountable for their words and actions that impact America's 21st century troops and veterans.
