VoteVets PAC Endorses Jared Golden for Congress

LEWISTON, ME - VoteVets is today endorsing Jared Golden in his campaign for Congress.

“Jared gave years of his life in service to America, and then came back to give more to Maine,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chair of VoteVets. “Jared also has shown the ability to work with both parties to get things done. That’s why his peers put him in a leadership position in the Maine House. That’s the kind of dedication, smarts, and skills that we need in Washington, especially right now. These are dangerous times, and we need more serious and dedicated people in Congress, like Jared. That’s why we’re pleased to support him.”

In 2002, after spending a year at the University of Maine, Farmington, Jared joined the Marine Corps infantry in response to the September 11th attacks. He served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

After returning home to Maine, Jared attended Bates College. After graduating, he worked for an international logistics firm and then for Sen. Susan Collins on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee where he led efforts to reauthorize the FIRE/SAFER Grants in 2012. Eager to get back to Maine, Jared returned home in 2013 to work for the House Democratic Office in the Maine Legislature. As a Democrat, Jared ran and was elected to the Maine House in 2014, representing the city of Lewiston. Now in his second term, he has been elected by his peers to serve as the Assistant Majority Leader.
