 ·  VoteVets.org, Press Release

BOONE, Iowa – VoteVets.org PAC, a national veterans organization representing over 360,000 supporters, is announcing its endorsement of Jim Mowrer for Congress in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District, today.

“Jim Mowrer’s life has been defined by service – service to his country, service to his fellow troops, and service to Iowa,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chairman of VoteVets.org.  “Dedication to serving others is something that’s lacking on Capitol Hill.  And, with Jim, it’s not just something he’s dedicated to, it’s something he’s passionate about.  There is no doubt that, as Congressman, Jim Mowrer will always put the people back home first, even above himself, like he’s always done.  He will be a Congressman that people can be proud of.”

According to his biography, after the September 11th, attacks Jim wanted to give back and serve his country. So as soon as he graduated high school, Jim joined the Iowa National Guard.

In 2005, Jim’s unit was mobilized and deployed to Iraq. Serving as an Intelligence Analyst, it was Jim's job to help locate IED's or roadside bombs so they could be removed before causing harm.  Jim’s unit, the 1-133 Infantry Battalion, served the longest deployment of any unit in the Iraq War – 23 months.

Jim returned to Iowa with his National Guard unit in 2007, but he returned to Iraq in 2009 as a civilian analyst and advisor to the Commander of US Forces.

In 2010, Jim was asked to serve as the Special Assistant to the Under Secretary of the Army. At the Pentagon, Jim helped start and oversee the Army’s Office of Business Transformation – tasked with making the Army more effective, while saving tax dollars.  He also served as the Army’s lead representative to the Council of Governors, where he worked with America’s Governors to help coordinate Army bases and operations in individual states across the country.

Founded in 2006, the mission of VoteVets.org Political Action Committee is to elect Veterans to public office, with a focus on Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, and hold public officials accountable for their words and actions that impact America's 21st century troops and veterans. Though VoteVets.org PAC is non-partisan, candidates it backs must support VoteVets.org's core mission and beliefs.
