MADISON, WI – The largest progressive group of veterans in America, representing over 400,000 veterans, military families, and their supporters, is releasing a report that details the votes and policy proposals of Senator Ron Johnson. The findings of the group, VoteVets.org, cast serious doubt on the Senator’s commitment to veterans.
“Senator Johnson talks a big game about veterans, but when we need him, he’s not there,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran, and Chairman of VoteVets.org. “What’s worse, his fondness for various privatization proposals for veterans care would leave veterans out in the cold. Senator Johnson wants to end the historic pact that we make with our men and women in uniform – that they will be taken care of, especially when it comes to caring for injuries and wounds sustained during war.”
“Senator Johnson’s record is a disservice to the 413,000 veterans living in Wisconsin, and these men and women who have put their lives on the line for our country deserve better,” Soltz added. “This VoteVets report highlights troubling facts and illustrates just how wrong Johnson’s record and policy prescriptions are for Wisconsin veterans.”

A few key findings of the report are:
• Johnson Was One Of Only Three Senators To Vote Against Funding And Reform Of The VA Health System – Because It Cost Too Much
• Johnson Voted Against Expanding Federal Veteran Benefits
• Johnson Used Scandal as Means for Calling for VA Privatization
