VoteVets Statement on VA Bill

WASHINGTON, DC - As the House moves ahead with an alternative bill to the failing VA Choice program, the largest progessive veterans group in America, VoteVets is warning that any final bill must slam the door close on any privatization attempts.

Will Fischer, the Director of Government Relations and Iraq War Veteran said in a statement:

"As Congress moves to debate the "VA Care in the Community Act," we urge them to resist efforts by the Koch Brothers and other profiteers who want to turn our veterans care into a money-making scheme. We should not, and must not, allow the VA to be privatized. There is no doubt that allies of the for-profit health care industry, and those seeking to privatize other programs like Social Security, will seek to turn this bill into the kind of privatization they want. Representatives and Senators must reject such efforts. Indeed, we hope they use this bill as a vehicle to glue the door shut forever on VA privatization."

Founded in 2006, and backed by over 500,000 supporters, the mission of VoteVets.org is to use public issue campaigns and direct outreach to lawmakers to ensure that troops abroad have what they need to complete their missions, and receive the care they deserve when they get home. VoteVets.org is committed to the destruction of terror networks around the world - with force when necessary - to protect America. While non-partisan, the group is the largest progressive organization of veterans in America.
