Scott Cooper spent 20 years in the Marine Corps, after graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1993 . In 1997, the Marine Corps sent him to North Carolina where he put down roots, raised his two daughters, and deployed eight times, including five tours in Iraq and two in Afghanistan. After each deployment he came home to North Carolina. Scott flew the EA-6B Prowler, and also served as a forward air controller. Scott's last assignment was as the speechwriter for the Deputy Commandant for Aviation, and he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
