After Senate Passes the Bi-Partisan Great American Outdoors Act, Military Veterans Urge House to Take It Across the Finish Line Now

Ads in CA, MD, MA, and MI Urge Members of Congress to Support the Great American Outdoors Act’s Swift Passage

The Great American Outdoors Act Would Fund a Popular Conservation Program That Invests in Parks, Public Lands and Communities Nationwide; Legislation Would Create Jobs, Provide Direct Investment for Communities Impacted by Economic Shutdowns, and Expand Access to the Outdoors

WASHINGTON, DC — Starting today, the largest progressive group of veterans in America, VoteVets Action Fund, will run ads in four states across the US –CA, MD, MA, and MI – urging members of Congress to protect our parks and public lands by swiftly passing the Great American Outdoors Act (HR 1957). Earlier this month, the Senate passed the bi-partisan Great American Outdoors Act with more than 70 votes.

The legislation would fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), a popular program that invests in parks, public lands and communities nationwide, without costing taxpayers anything. The Great American Outdoors Act would create thousands of jobs, provide direct investment for communities impacted by economic shutdowns, and expand access to the outdoors.

The ads ask House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CA), House Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA), Rep. Anthony Brown (MD), Rep. Richard Neal (MA), and Rep. Elissa Slotkin (MI) to do all that they can to prioritize passage of the Great American Outdoors Act immediately. All have been strong champions of America’s parks and public lands in the past.

Retired Major General Paul D. Eaton, senior advisor to VoteVets said, “The Great American Outdoors Act is important to protect outdoor areas that military families hunt, fish, hike and camp in year after year. In these tumultuous times, swift passage of this common sense, bi-partisan legislation will be a huge win for our nation’s public lands, veterans, military families, civilians — a win for everybody.”

These members of Congress have a long history of supporting access to parks and public lands, so we hope they will push for a vote in the House of Representatives very soon.”

The VoteVets ads are running across social media platforms and streaming services.
