VoteVets Drops $100,000 on TV in support of Mark Takai

Honolulu, HI – The veterans group that played a large role in introducing Tulsi Gabbard to many Hawaii voters has bought $100,000 in television air time in support of candidate for Hawaii’s 1st Congressional District, Army Veteran Mark Takai.

The ad can be viewed here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0j-H1U6Ltc.  A full script is below.

The ad calls upon Hawaii’s proud history of service to America, opening with a montage of shots of the legendary 442nd Infantry Regiment – the all Japanese-American combat team in World War II, which included many Nisei from Hawaii.  Senators Daniel Inouye and Spark Matsunaga were a part of the 442nd

“The 442nd,” the ad begins.  “Just the number means sacrifice and service.  From Kuwait to Honolulu, Mark Takai continues that tradition of service.  Mark Takai has fought to give our veterans the care they deserve.  And Takai brought millions of education funds to Hawaii.  On August 9th, we have the chance to call Mark Takai our Congressman, and show Washington, DC that Hawaii knows what service is all about.”

VoteVets Action Fund, which is running the ad, had spent over $300,000 in support of Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard in 2012.
