VoteVets PAC Endorses Feehan for Congress

“Community and Service is in Dan’s Heart”

North Mankato – VoteVets PAC is today endorsing Dan Feehan a Democrat running for Congress, in Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District.

“Community and service is in Dan’s heart,” said Rick Hegdahl, Director of Veterans Outreach for VoteVets. “Again and again, when his community and his country called, Dan answered.  He has the smarts, the dedication, and the heart to be one of the best members of Congress, and a faithful servant to his constituents.  Right now, we need that in Congress”

Born and raised in Minnesota, Dan Feehan joined the Army ROTC after 9/11, and was commissioned as an engineer officer in 2005, completing Airborne and Ranger schools shortly thereafter. He deployed as an Engineer platoon leader to Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006 as part of the 4th Infantry Division, responsible for both battlespace north of Baghdad and the counter-IED fight. He deployed again to OIF in 2008, this time as a Battalion Scout/Sniper Platoon leader. He and his men were responsible for time-sensitive targeting and nighttime raids to capture insurgents throughout East Baghdad. Dan completed his active duty service in 2009, earning the Bronze Star for Service and the Army Commendation Medal with Valor.

On the week he left the active duty Army in 2009, he began Teach For America, teaching first graders on Chicago’s south side, followed by two years spent as a middle school math teacher in Gary, Indiana. While doing so, he served with the Illinois National Guard.

After graduate school at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Feehan was appointed the acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Readiness in the Pentagon. He then returned to his home in southern Minnesota, where he and his wife Amy, an elementary school teacher, are raising their sons Conor and Declan.
