VoteVets Endorses Janessa Goldbeck for Congress

SAN DIEGO, CA – The largest progressive group of veterans in America, VoteVets PAC, is today endorsing Janessa Goldbeck for Congress, from California’s 53rd Congressional District.

“Janessa comes to this race with a unique profile and spirit of service that will make her one the most effective advocates for her constituents, in Congress, and always ensure that our military, and military families, have all they need to succeed,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War veteran, and Chair of VoteVets.  “Janessa also knows what it will take to keep our communities and our schools safe, and effectively combat the scourge of gun violence that is plaguing our country, by fighting to take weapons of war off our streets.  She is going to be one of the most effective voices in Congress, and we’re proud to endorse her.”

In 2012, Janessa Goldbeck was commissioned by the United States Marine Corps, after graduating in the top ten percent of her class in Officer Candidates School in Quantico, VA. 

While serving as Squadron Training Officer and Engineer Company Executive Officer assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 373 in Miramar, CA, she was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and recognized by the San Diego chapter of ASIS International as the “Military Professional of the Month,” as well as the Military Honoree – District 6 by the San Diego City Council.

In 2017, she deployed with the Black Sea Rotational Force and Marine Rotational Forces – Europe, with Marines and Sailors split between Romania and Norway in direct support of 1st Battalion, 2d Marine Division. Over the course of the deployment, Goldbeck’s detachment established a forward Marine Corps base in Norway and provided combat service support to eight NATO theater security cooperation exercises in seven countries, supervising the successful and safe execution of logistical, engineering, and explosive demolition mission. She was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal. 

In August 2017, due to a family illness, Goldbeck received humanitarian orders to her hometown of San Diego, where she assumed duties as Operations Officer, Facilities Maintenance Division, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. She was then hand-selected to serve as the Depot Protocol Officer, representing the Commanding General of Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. In this role, she supervised the planning and execution of more than 100 VIP visits and special events with international dignitaries, senior military officers, elected officials, media personalities, and business leaders.

Her personal decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star in lieu of second award, as well as the aforementioned Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
